Frequently Asked Questions
Who are the partners that comprise the Hub ONE collaboration?
Hub ONE is a unique collaboration between Prevention Works, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kalamazoo, Urban Alliance and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Each of these organizations play an equal role in the partnership and work to maximize their individual mission delivery and strength to also enhance the success of the collaborative.
Is Hub ONE a separate nonprofit organization? No, Hub One is a long-term collaboration designed to both enhance how our partner organizations serve the community and practice a new model that showcases how impact and collaboration can be improved for all nonprofits. Our hope is that this model can be replicated to enhance the work of all nonprofits and the benefits they yield toward the promotion of thriving individuals, families and strong communities.
Can I join Hub One? Not at this time. Although we are not currently expanding our network of partner organizations, we are eager to engage with all who are committed to strengthening our community. We continually explore ways to share our mission and best practices.
We also strive to strengthen the fabric of our nonprofit ecosystem through referral networks, program collaboration and by generating awareness for the services other organizations provide. Please reach out to learn more about how we have built our collaboration and to explore best practices that have helped to accelerate our missions. We are excited to deepen our relationships in the community, help make connections and are happy to brainstorm opportunities and resources available to you and your organization.
What are you focused on solving? Hub One partner organizations are focused on leveraging and streamlining the complimentary services we offer to citizens across Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan to further address and reduce root causes of generational poverty.
Through the unique, evidence-based model we have deployed to enhance our impact and through methods of successful collaboration, Hub One seeks to model opportunities to strengthen the nonprofit sector and maximize impact for all.
How is Hub ONE funding utilized?
Recognizing the unique opportunity to enhance impact for some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens while also building a new model to improve the nonprofit sector, Stryker Johnston Foundation generously invested in the establishment of the Hub ONE collaboration in 2019.
Each organization maintains it’s own 501©3, continues to deliver on it’s own mission and independently funds it’s own operations. The Hub ONE collaboration houses exceptional talent and leadership within a shared back-office infrastructure to maximize how resources are utilized between partner organizations and leverages expertise for all involved. Hub ONE resources also support partner organizations in overcoming specific barriers to success such as ensuring pay equity for staff members.
The collaboration’s resources are also utilized to evaluate and optimize the way clients are served amongst and between the partner organizations. Oftentimes people using nonprofit services have intersecting issues that perpetuate the cycle of poverty. The collaboration seeks to identify and remove barriers to change by streamlining and enhancing the delivery of services across and between partner organizations.
Hub ONE is committed to documenting and sharing evidence-based methodologies that can be replicated to enhance other nonprofit organizations and communities. The awareness and partnerships built along the way will enhance the lives of all in our community and will showcase an opportunity to reduce and eliminate long-standing challenges plaguing our society for generations.
